When I set out to start Another Mommy Blogger I had NO IDEA what to do, sooo I went to my good friend google and searched “how to start a mom blog”.
Oh. My. Goodness.
I read so many tutorials that threw words at me like domain name, blogging platform, web hosting, yada yada yada.
Ugh. No thank you!
I barely knew what any of those things were, and they weren’t explained to me very well at all. For a beginner, just starting out, it was very discouraging. However, I was very determined to succeed and I muddled through it all. I figured it out, started my blog, and it has been one of THE BEST decisions I have ever made in my life!
I am so passionate about blogging not only as a fun creative outlet, but also as a means of contributing to providing for my family! So passionate that I encourage any and every mother looking for a way to work from home, to spend more time with her children, to start a mom blog today!
I have created this guide to show you how I started my mom blog so you can start one too, without all the confusion. There are other ways, but I did my research and took advice from many successful bloggers that told me this is the way to go. So far I have no regrets!

Step Two: Select A Plan
Now it’s time to select your plan.
If you’re in this to try to make money I definitely recommend not going any lower than the prime account. You need these better features to be able to create a secure website that looks professional and is able to help you make money.
I can’t stress enough, if you want to make money blogging DO NOT get a free website with Wix.com or another free platform. No one takes those websites seriously, especially if you want to start working with brands. Your features will be limited and they put there ads on your website that you won’t make money from.
Its just a bad idea, trust me. Even if you are in this for just a fun hobby, if you decide down the road that you want to take blogging seriously and make money it’s a hassle switching over.
Another reason paying for your website helps you is because you’re more likely to work hard to succeed when you’ve already invested in it. It’s harder to give up when you’ve already spent money!
Step Three: Pick A Name
What do you want your website to be called?
I would definitely advise you to give this question a lot of thought. You want something that is catchy, easy to read, and will draw attention. You might want to think of a few because there are a lot of websites out there so your name might be taken already.
Once you think of a few good names, type them into google and see if any similar ones pop up. I didn’t do this and it actually turns out that there are a few variations of my blog name out there already. Definitely not a good thing when you are trying to stand out, whoops.
Step Four: Enter Account Information
Another easy step, just put in all your information. Just make sure the email address you give them is one that you can access. They will send you a confirmation email with your login information.
Step Five: Choose Extras (or not)
Anything you can do to give yourself a leg up in the blogging world is going to help you succeed faster. That being said, everyone financial situation is different. If you can afford it, save money by prepaying for 60 months and get all of the extras.
I couldn’t afford them all but I did go with the site lock security to protect my website, and the SEO tool start which helps me get traffic from google (which is hard to do so you’ll definitely want it)
Step Six: Enter Billing Information
Are you sweating a little bit?
Filling this part out was a little scary for me too. Seriously my cursor just hovered over that little green button for a while. At the time, I was barely working and had just a little bit of extra money saved, everything else was going towards bills.
Plus what makes me think I have what it takes to start a mom blog anyway? Aren’t the people who make money doing this super human?
SPOILER ALERT! They are not. A lot of them are just like you!
I was just like you when I started out. I didn’t know what I was doing! But I did it! I did my research, I put in the time. I took the chance, I invested in my future!
Blogging isn’t a get rich quick kind of thing, those don’t exist. It takes time, effort, passion, and dedication.
If you decide to do this, you put your payment info in there right now and you promise yourself that you are going to give it all you’ve got. You aren’t going to give up NO MATTER WHAT. I promise you, a year from now, you will be successfully making a full time income.
Step Eight: Start Building Your Site
