30 Day Honey Face Mask Results

If you have bad skin I’m sure you’ve heard the claims of how you can benefit from a honey face mask.

With all the hype on the internet and my own growing desire for beautiful skin I was tempted to try it out for myself and see if it really worked.

I was very hesitant to put a thick sticky sugary substance on my face, assuming it would only aggravate my skin and clog my pores.

While I was hesitant, my inner writer whispered “Do it for the blog”, and here we are.

Results aside, my two year old daughter saying, “I like your honey face mommy” every night for 30 days made this experiment well worth it.

Raw Unfiltered Honey

When I was researching honey face mask results, to put together my game plan, I was disappointed.

All of the reviews I found were results of using a honey face mask for only a week or two and they didn’t include a before and after picture.

I felt that to provide my readers with an honest and informative review I had to put the time in and provide proof, so that’s exactly what I did.

What can honey do for your skin?

First, let’s talk about what the internet claims honey can do for you.

  • Moisturizes the skin
  • Treats and prevents acne
  • Lightens acne scars
  • Reduces wrinkles and prevents aging

Sounds a little too good to be true for something you can find in the baking isle at your grocery store, right?

What honey should you choose?

To see any results at all you must use unfiltered raw honey.

Honey that has been pasteurized has been heated and the heating process kills the good enzymes that benefit your skin.

You can find the unfiltered raw honey I used for my honey face mask here.

I had good results using that honey, that I’ll talk about more throughout this post, but I wanted to add that it not the best honey to use.

If you do more research you might come across this honey. This type of honey is said to be the best, but not knowing how my face would react to honey, the price wasn’t worth the risk.

After doing this experiment and seeing the results of honey on my skin I am definitely considering trying out the manuka honey in the future. You can subscribe to my blog to get that post sent to your email when I put it out.

My Process

There is no one proven right way to do this. Some people leave their mask on for an hour, some for 10 minutes. Some people do it everyday, some only once a week.

Everyone’s skin is different and will react differently. I suggest you try whatever you want and tweak your process to find out what works best for you.

With that being said, this is what I did for this experiment.

  • Apply a thin layer of honey to clean face before bed. Leave on for one hour and then rinse off with warm water and pat dry.

Easy enough?

Definitely a little bit of a visual improvement. Better than I expected, especially from a cheap product I usually eat in my peanut butter sandwiches.

Addressing The Claims

Does honey moisturize your skin?

Absolutely! Out of all of the things I was told honey could do for me, this seemed to be the most true.

I have combination skin. An extremely oily T-zone and dry flaky cheeks. Aren’t I lucky?

After just two honey face masks my dry cheeks were gone and left super soft.

Does honey treat and prevent acne?

Treat? Without a doubt.

Prevent? I’m not convinced.

During the 30 days I didn’t break out any more or less than I usually do, but honey does have healing properties and I really believe speeds up the skin healing process.

Does honey lighten acne scars?

Like I said, honey has healing properties and speeds up the skins healing process.

I think my pictures prove that, over time, honey definitely will lighten your acne scars.

Does honey reduce wrinkles and prevent aging?

I would love to know! Maybe I can do a post about that in 10 years?

My skin did feel tight after rinsing off the honey and drying my face. So if I had to guess I would have to say it would help.
