“How do you make money, who pays you?”

That’s the number one question most people ask me about my blog.

It was also one of the top questions I had when I started Another Mommy Blogger a little over a year ago.

If you’re looking to start your own mom blog or you’re just curious how it all works here’s how I make money with my mom blog.

How I Make Money With My Mom Blog

Before I get started I have to say, blogging is not a get rich quick kind of thing (those don’t exist, unless you’re really lucky)

It takes a lot of time, determination, and dedication before you start making good money blogging.

However, if you put in the effort and don’t give up you have the potential to make way more than you’re making at that 9-5 you know you hate.

If you are interested in starting your own mom blog, I’ve written a short how-to guide right here.

Advertising

Placing ads on your website is the easiest way to start making money.

I started out using Google Adsense because they accept beginners, but the pay was minimal.

Once my blog hit about 30,000 page views in one month I was able to apply and get accepted to Mediavine.

Once I made the switch my blogging income more than doubled overnight.

Blogging for money can feel like trying to run through mud in the beginning, but once you can qualify for a higher paying ad management company like Mediavine all of your hard work starts paying off like crazy.

It’s worth the wait, trust me.

Write Posts That Solve A Problem

Your ads won’t make you any money unless people are seeing them. So you need to write posts on your website that people want to read.

I’m sorry but until you have a huge following of readers who care about you, no one wants to hear about what you and your family did this weekend.

The type of posts people want to read always solve a problem.

Your potential readers go to Google or Pinterest and they type in what they are looking for:

Dinner Recipes.

How to get a baby to sleep through the night?

Activities for kids.

What should I put on my baby registry?

So if this is what your audience is searching for online then you need to write posts titled the following:

15 Easy Dinner Recipes For Busy Week Nights

10 Tips Moms Use To Get Their Babies To Sleep Through The Night

20 Summer Time Activities For Kids

The Complete Baby Registry List

This is what you write about if you want to make money blogging.

Affiliate Marketing

Affiliate marketing is essentially a company paying you a commission on sales made from your referrals.

So I write a post about Adorable Handmade Clothes For Babies And Toddlers. If my readers click on a link in that post and end up purchasing any of the clothing I’ve recommended, I make a commission off of that sale.

If you’re just starting out you should stick to just a few affiliate programs and focus on those.

Never recommend a product that you don’t believe in. Building trust with your followers is very important to the success of your blog.

These are the affiliate programs I use:

If you sign up for these programs using my links below I may receive a commission. That’s affiliate marketing in action! Thanks in advance 😉

Sponsored Posts

When you blog you build a loyal following of viewers. You have an audience that tunes in to what you say and values your opinion.

That makes you valuable to companies and they’ll pay you for your audience’s attention.

A sponsored post is a post you get paid to write to promote for a company.

My first year blogging I focused on learning, creating good content regularly, and building my audience. Soon, I’d like to start pitching to brands and landing sponsored posts.

Here are a few websites you can use to reach out to brands:

Acorn Influence

Bloggin’ Mamas

Clever

Selling Products

A lot of mom bloggers have success selling their own ebooks and crafts.

I haven’t created any of my own products yet but it’s defintely a goal of mine.

I’m thinking about making children’s books, baby shower printables, maybe even designing my own mommy schedule planner.

The possibilities are endless!

These are just some of the ways you can make money with a mom blog.

The best part of blogging is the endless opportunities for growth.
