Looking for ideas for outdoor country wedding decorations?
Welcome to the third post in a series of posts I’m putting out this month to share our wedding photos with you.
In this post you will find all of our wedding photos showing off our outdoor country wedding decorations.
With help from family and friends we made a lot of the decorations you will see.
Most of the ideas came from Pinterest and were tweaked to our liking.
Our wedding colors were purple and gray and we also incorporated a lot of burlap and lace.
I’ll do my best to link to products used to make the decorations and directions on how to make them.

This first shot is of our head table.
The center piece (close up pictures below) consisted of:
- Distressed white mason jar that held my bouquet
- Lace wrapped votive candle holder with tea light
- Butter dish
All of that sat on wooden slabs my cousin and my mothers boyfriend cut for us. The wooden slabs were stained and polyurethaned.
Distressed White Mason Jar
- Mason Jars
- Rubbing Alcohol
- Cotton Balls
- Chalk Finish Paint
- 80 Grit Sandpaper
- Paint Brush
- Matte Clear Coat
- Twine
1.) Mason jar need to be free from any dirt and oil (oil from fingerprints) or the paint won’t adhere properly. Wash and dry the mason jars. Then with your hand inside them use a rubbing alcohol soaked cotton ball to wiped the outside surface of the jar. Next soak rinse the jar in hot water and towel dry one more time.
2.) Apply two coats of chalk finish paint in the color of your choice and let dry for 24 hours.
3.) Gently use your 80 grit sandpaper to remove paint from any raised edges on the jar. You can also sand a few random spots of the jar for a more distressed look.
4.) Use a dry cloth to remove any paint dust and then apply one coat of matte clear topcoat.
5.) Cut a piece of twine and tie a bow around the neck of the jar.
6.) When we sat for dinner I put my bouquet in the jar.

Our wedding ceremony and reception were held on family property.
This meant we needed to rent or purchase our cutlery, plates, glasses, etc.

We got our wedding cake from Gambles Bakery in Queensbury NY.
Gambles may not have been the classy cute bakery experience I was hoping for but what they lack in their shop they make up for in talent, taste, and customer service.
We loved our wedding cake. It was beautiful, delicious and Gambles bakery owners were lovely people.
They also made my cousin’s cake for her gender reveal party and it turned out amazing.

My mother purchased about a million chalkboard signs. We used a lot of them and they added a beautiful rustic touch to our wedding decor.
This one was perfect to put next to our party favors. I hand wrote the message in liquid chalk marker.

My mother also purchase every single wedding sign for sale in the world. I tease, but they were all beautiful additions to the wedding decor.
If you find yourself with more signs then you know what to do with you can set up little decor displays like this with hay bales.

This was such a cool idea my mom found and it came together so nicely.
This area was next to a fire pit for guest to make s’mores.
That tin bucket was filled with s’more sticks and each clear goodie bag has the ingredients for one s’more and they’re tied with twine.

One of my favorite parts of our outdoor wedding decor was the little cinema.
I had made a slideshow of photos of Devin and I from when we were young, when we were dating, and of our family and it played on an outdoor projector.

I might use this word a little too much when I describe our wedding, but it really was MAGICAL.
If you are having an outdoor night wedding you need a cinema!
Family photos as wedding decorations are such a good idea.
My mom dressed up cheap frames with ribbon and hung them from this tree we wrapped in light.

Another artistic creation my father worked on for our wedding made the perfect photo prop.
