If you missed it, I recently announced on Facebook that I’m pregnant with my second child! Now that the cats out of the bag I can be open about my awful experience with morning sickness.
Morning sickness is nausea and vomiting that occurs during pregnancy. It’s name is very deceiving because it actually strikes at any time of the day.
Morning sickness is most common during the first trimester but can last throughout your pregnancy.
It wasn’t until this pregnancy that I fully understood how lucky I was to experience almost no nausea and vomiting during my first pregnancy.
This pregnancy has been so different from my first. For weeks I have had strong waves of nausea lasting almost all day long. Pair that with extreme fatigue and I’ve felt practically useless.
It’s not easy having morning sickness especially when you have children already that you need to take care of. If you’re struggling, try these morning sickness remedies that really work.

Tips To Avoid Morning Sickness
Get Plenty Of Sleep
Fatigue will only worsen your symptoms so it is crucial to make sure you are getting enough sleep to avoid morning sickness.
Try drinking your recommended fluid intake during the morning and afternoon to avoid extra trips to the bathroom at night.
Keep Saltines At Your Bedside
Women with morning sickness swear by Saltines. Just nibbling on a cracker or two before you get out of bed in the morning can help a lot.
Take Your Prenatal Vitamin Before Bed
Prenatal vitamins are known to make women nauseous. By taking your prenatal vitamin before bed you can avoid experiencing that increased nausea during the day.
Eat Smaller More Frequent Meals
Morning sickness is aggravated by a full stomach as well as an empty one. To fix this try eating six small meals throughout the day as opposed to three larger ones.
Avoid Strong Smells
My poor husband gets yelled at a lot for this one. The colognes and lotions I once loved to smell on him are now repulsive to me.
Strong smells, even ones you used to love, can bring on a wave of nausea so it’s best to avoid them.
Foods That Help With Morning Sickness
Ginger
Ginger is known for settling tummies so try sipping on ginger ale or snacking on ginger snaps.
Mint
I was experiencing morning sickness during Girl Scout cookie season so I was all over those thin mints. You can also try peppermint candies, peppermint tea, and peppermint gum.
Lemon
Some women swear by anything sour for morning sickness. This is a great excuse to treat yourself to some lemon aid or just squeeze some fresh lemon juice in your water.
