Before we get started, let’s go over some tips for taking your own baby photos at home.

Photographing a live subject can be difficult, especially when the live subject is a baby and the photographer is a tired mom.

Use my tips for DIY baby photos below to help make your baby photoshoots go smoothly.

Keep baby photoshoots short
Take baby photos when your baby is well rested, feed, and changed
Get all photo props, clothes, background together and set up while baby is napping
Having another person around for an extra set of hands helps
Make sure to charge your phone or camera ahead of time

How To DIY Baby Monthly Photo

To get this picture you need to choose a wooden floor in your home. If you don’t have a wooden floor you can use these.

Next you’ll want to place a reclining baby seat near a window for best lighting. Then add a pillow on top. The pillow will give the seat a fluffier cloud like appearance.

Now drape the white blanket over the entire seat and then the purple blanket across.

Use a step ladder to get a birds eye view shot.

2 Month Baby Picture Ideas

To get this shot I put Hailee’s bassinet on the same wooden floor in our home facing a window for natural light.

Next I lined the bassinet with the white blanket by folding it and tucking it in. Then draped the purple blanket across and placed Hailee on top.

Behind her is the letter board with a cute message reading: Two Months Eat Sleep Poop Repeat

Use a step ladder to get a birds eye view shot.

3 Month Old Baby Pictures

For this shot I put our racket in between two windows for natural lighting. Then covered the chair in the white blanket and draped the purple blanket at an angle on one side.

Put your letter board on one side with an adorable message that reads: Three Months I’m so cute even the snow has started falling for me. This worked perfect for us because it was the beginning of winter.

For this shot I put the white blanket down flat on my bed and then runched up the purple blanket and put it across.

I put Hailee in the middle a little off to the side and put her elephant stuffed animal next to her.

Use a step ladder again to get a birds eye view shot.

Put the boppy pillow in the middle of the bed and then take your white blanket and lay it over the bed. Tuck one end of the blanket behind the headboard and clip it in place with clips.

Tuck the purple blanket one side of the headboard with a clip and at an angle drape it across the bed and pillow.

For this shot I used the portrait mode on my iPhone to get the blurred background.
